INJURY ASSESSMENT

As a Level 4 qualified Sport & Remedial Therapist I can comfortably assess your injury by carrying out some orthopaedic tests. These tests will look at ROM, muscles and ligaments, with a treatment to follow. This is not a full diagnosis. Further scans, examinations and a confirmed diagnosis will need to be obtained by referral to the sports medicine consultant.

SPORTS MASSAGE

Is designed to assist in correcting problems and imbalances in soft tissue that are caused from repetitive and strenuous physical activity and trauma. The application of Sports Massage, prior to and after exercise, may enhance performance, aid recovery and prevent injury. Both athletes and non-athletes can gain physiological and psychological benefits from receiving Sports Massage Therapy.

REMEDIAL MASSAGE

This type of massage is designed to treat both deep and superficial tissues. Using a wide range of skilled techniques to manipulate. A systematic assessment and treatment of the muscles, tendons, ligaments and connective tissues of the body to assist in rehabilitation, pain and injury management.

NEUROMUSCULAR THERAPY (TRIGGER POINT THERAPY)

Commonly also known as Trigger Point Therapy. This technique involves applying alternating levels of concentrated pressure to the trigger point. Mainly performed using the fingers, knuckles or elbow. Often painful to touch due to the muscle lacking blood flow which in turn also highlights that it's not receiving enough oxygen too. This is a great way to release tension!

ADVANCED SPINAL MANIPULATION

Spinal manipulation is the traditional high-velocity low-amplitude (HVLA) thrust. A controlled sudden force is applied to the joint to restore or to enhance joint function, joint inflammation, nerve function, relieve pressure and reduce pain. A more gentle approach is referred to as Spinal Mobilisation, this does not involve a forceful thrust. Effective by easing pain and improving mobility.

POSTURAL ASSESSMENTS

Assessing a persons posture could be the key to unlocking any imbalances that are affecting a said injury. It entails observation of static posture for alignment of paired anatomic landmarks for symmetry. Beneficial in helping solve the cause.

MYOFASCIAL CUPPING

A unique treatment of soft tissue therapy that involves the application of decompressed cups on the skin, creating a vacuum effect that lifts up underlying tissues such as the fascia (connective tissue), muscles, blood and other fluid, close to the surface of the skin. Great for reducing fascial adhesions, removing toxins and decreasing the viscosity of the tissues.

TMJ THERAPY

This form of treatment focuses on working with individuals who may suffer with Temporal Mandibular Joint Dysfunction. The hardest working joint in our body! When these joints slip out of place they can cause a variety of issues. Myofascial pain is most common and this treatment is about releasing the muscles surrounding and controlling the joint by melting the fascial restrictions allowing the tissue to become softer and more pliable.

MEDICAL ACUPUNCTURE

Medical acupuncture is a therapeutic modality involving the insertion of fine needles to help stimulate the nerve fibres, activating nociceptors, which results in a nerve impulse being sent to the spinal cord and the brain. Here, endorphins cells are stimulated to release endorphins (brain chemicals). These substances provide local inhibition (blocking) of the incoming pain signal promoting healing whilst providing a natural pain relief and relaxation.

Overall, it is an adaptation of the Chinese method just using modern up-to-date knowledge of anatomy and physiology. The aim is to create homeostasis within the body.

ABOUT ME

Outside profile shot.jpg

I'm a full time Sport & Remedial Massage Therapist based in Jersey, Channel Islands.

I have always had an interest in Sports, more so the therapy route. After 3 years at college studying sports in a variety of areas, I left and somehow fell into finance!

My passion never burnt out and I was determined to get to where I'd always wanted to be.

That's when I began researching courses and it wasn't long before I found myself in London studying.  After completing my training in London I qualified with Sports Therapy UK as a Sports Therapist.

Well Kneaded was then launched.

I offer a range of appointments with the intent to help athletes alongside their training regimes or even those with strenuous daily working activities. My approach to Sports Therapy is to remain knowledgeable through different avenues and show how passionately I believe in the power of the body to heal itself with the manipulation of the tissues.

I continue to further my knowledge through extra training regularly to keep updated with current information and to offer extra services, as my clients know I'm often always studying.

Of course my life isn't only massage! I have hobbies and other interests that I buzz off too. I like to take part in challenges (mainly off island) trekking up mountains is my thing, running, travelling, just being outdoors really. Always up for new adventures... sign me up! I love a good upcycle project too, turning something old into new is a great feeling. Other than that I'll just be hanging out with my little Jack Russell, Maggi!
